Ruine Schneeburg

This medieval castle, although only preserved in parts, is located on the Schönberg. This small mountain can be seen as soon as you climb the stairs of the central train station to the tram stops. It is easy to reach by taking the car or tram line 3, direction Vauban. get off at the last stop: from here, take a beautiful walk through the forest and along fruit orchards and fields until you reach the ruins of the castle. Schlossberg

If you want to take a short break from the city, just take a small walk on the Schlossberg. It is easily reachable from any point in the city, especially the older part. Here, you can just walk around and enjoy the view or watch the sunset with your friends, some drinks and snacks. There is also a lookout tower and you can see what’s left of the 17th century Vauban fortification. In Medieval times, there was also a castle up here (hence the name “castle hill”) but it is now barely visible.
